Berketex Bride administration: Dresses reunited with brides
We’ve had a busy week acting for troubled bridal store Berketex Bride and have already matched up 110 dresses with brides to be.
All 15 retail outlets of Bridal Fashions Limited, trading as Berketex Bride, ceased trading from Tuesday, November 13, with us instructed to assist.
We’ve been on site at all of the troubled High Street retailer’s stores, including Edinburgh, London, Glasgow and Bristol, which has been operating as a bridal retailer and supplier for more than 50 years.
Licensed insolvency practitioner Robert Dymond said:
“As insolvency practitioners we often have to deal with the upset caused when staff are made redundant or where creditors lose money.
“In this case hundreds of brides-to-be face their special day being ruined. For that reason wherever it has been possible we have tried to unite dresses with brides.
“Our staff have been successful in matching 80 dresses with brides-to-be and are continuing in their efforts to do so, with potentially a further 90 dresses identified and waiting to be matched to brides.
“For brides who had paid a deposit or paid in full, where their dress has been delivered to store, our staff on site have contacted brides to collect their dress and make the final payment.
“For dresses that had not been delivered to stores customers are being advised how to get credit card/debit card refunds where appropriate.”
Robert added:
“We do have a number of dresses which we can return to brides but we have been unable to make contact. If you are a bride and were due to collect your dress from Berketex Bride, please contact us to see if yours is one of the items we are holding.“
“When appointed, we have a statutory duty to investigate the conduct of directors in the period preceding closure of the company and encourage any creditors who have concerns over the conduct of the director and the events leading up to the insolvency of the company to email berketex@wilsonfield.co.uk”
A dedicated phone line for customers who have placed orders has been set up to offer advice and every effort is being made to minimise inconvenience to customers. Any customers waiting for purchased items to be received should call 0114 349 1388 or email berketex@wilsonfield.co.uk
All customers that have purchased dresses from Debenhams should contact the Debenhams store from which they purchased their dress.
Berketex Bride, which had annual sales of £1.5m, had 80 staff and 15 branches nationwide including concessions in Debenhams and stores in Scotland and Southern Ireland plus an online store.
Locations of stores include Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Croydon, London West End, Chester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin.
A Notice of Intention to Appoint an Administrator was filed in Court on 9th November 2018. Once appointed, an Administrator will explore the possibility of selling the stock, brand and website.
