Summer holidays are upon us and there’s normally a mixed trail of thoughts…
“a nice break from work”,
“having to work overtime to cover other people’s holidays”,
“what to do over the holidays with the kids”,
“will my overdraft or credit card cover it?”
Most people worry about the third option, as many are off work to look after their children during school holidays. The next concern is what to do with kids that won’t burn a large hole in their pockets. As a result, most parents worry how to keep their children happy and entertained.
In certain circumstances, people result to using their overdraft or credit cards to ensure they keep their little cherubs happy. Keeping children happy during holidays becomes a main preoccupation for many parents.
It’s a catch 22 situation in this economic climate do we stop at home or go out and spend money we don’t have. The cost of some activities has more than doubled over the last couple of years and this is resulting in parents cutting back on attending amusement parks, adventure playgrounds, etc, as often as they did in the past.
This in turn has a knock-on effect on businesses in the leisure industry as they are trying to sustain an income to generate their business.
